As a kid did you ever enjoy rolling around in the dirt or mud? Or maybe you liked to jump in the puddles and get soaked? Well, when you got home you knew that you would need to clean yourself up. Well although the Levites were set apart by God they also needed to be cleansed, perhaps we also need to take a shower today…
The Levites purified themselves from sin and washed their clothes, and Aaron lifted them up and presented them to the Lord as a special offering. He then offered a sacrifice to purify them and make them right with the Lord. (Numbers 8:21).
“For you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9). You are a special person to God and although you make not like to roll around in the mud or jump in puddles anymore, many of us still need a spiritual cleansing of our hearts. We can make the same request that the Psalmist made when he said, “Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin”
Psalm 51:2). Will you allow yourself to be washed by the blood of the Lamb today? And if so, will you make your choice to not go back to the mud of sin that you came from?
