I feel great as I read this Psalm, it reminds me of my walk with God. It is beautiful to see that God has always been merciful. There is a misconception that God of the Old Testament was unloving, yet, in verse 2, the psalmist demonstrates the opposite. God is a forgiving God, who covers our sins.
Key Verses: 5,9,12
Restore us, O God of our salvation,
And cause Your indignation toward us to cease.
Surely His salvation is near to those who [h]fear Him,
That glory may dwell in our land.
Indeed, the Lord will give what is good,
And our land will yield its produce.
This Psalm shows us that God is a Restorer, Forgiver, Covers iniquity, Savior, Revivalist, a Provider of good. I heard of story of Christian missionary in ask a native of all your gods (5000+) which one of them loves you? The native replied, “none.” It was a foreign idea to them, what they understood was that their purpose was to serve the gods. Unlike their gods, the God of Heaven loves all of humanity and He gives many reasons to trust in Him. I invite you read this psalm again and try to draw all the characteristics that describe our God.
