Psalm 93 – When Troubles Come

Our little puppy passed away today and it has left us all with heavy hearts. It does not compare to the loss of a family member or loved one and yet it is painful. Which is probably because we were not meant to deal with death, instead we were created to live forever. But when we face difficulties, pain, suffering, or injustice in life…remember that there is One that is mightier than these who gives us the power to overcome.

The floods have risen up, O Lord.
The floods have roared like thunder;
the floods have lifted their pounding waves.
mightier than the violent raging of the seas,
mightier than the breakers on the shore—
the Lord above is mightier than these!
Your royal laws cannot be changed.
Your reign, O Lord, is holy forever and ever.

As I read this Psalm I was particularly comforted by the fact that though the floods of life’s tempests arise and seem to overcome come us our God’s strength is revealed to be even more powerful and His salvation more miraculous! As you attempt to deal with the difficulties that surround you and seem to drown you in waves of despair and sorrow, take comfort in the arms of Jesus and cry out as Peter did when he was being swallowed up by the ocean “Lord, save me!”

“Take hope. It is I. Do not be afraid!”

Blessings,
