I hope you’re not caught off guard by the title of this blog, but rather that you will read in the title something that transcends “physical attraction” and instead see something about God’s commitment–His covenant to you and me!
Honestly, I’ve read this chapter before and have always focused on the promise of the Deliverer. But something jumped out at me today! And I’d like to share it with you!
His government and its peace will never end.
He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of His ancestor David for all eternity.
The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen! Isaiah 9:7 NLT
Did you catch it? The passionate commitment will make the promise of a Deliverer come true! And it was indeed a passionate pursuit of you and me! From the beginning God made a covenant with Adam and Eve; but they failed to remain faithful. God made a covenant with Abraham and he, too, failed to remain faithful. God made a covenant with all Israel, his chosen people, and they, too, failed to remain faithful to the covenant. See a pattern? God has always been faithful in keeping His covenant and His promise we are the ones that have been unfaithful. Down the years, God continued to be relentlessly loving. His deep love for us led Him to become one of us, to live with us, to live like us as our brother! But what was even more amazing was that He, unlike thousands of years of human history, was faithful to the covenant He established with us from the beginning, to love us! Not only was He the covenant giver, He was also the covenant keeper! Where we continue to fail, He succeeded on our behalf! Great is His faithfulness! My challenge for you today is to put your trust and faith in Christ’s faithfulness and not in yours! Allow his love to infuse your entire being and place your trust in His righteousness and faithfulness! You’ll never be the same! After all, it’s never been about what you can do, it’s about what He has done, is doing, and will do through you! Allow Jesus to live out His faithfulness through you! I hope this Christmas season, that you will come to realize that you will find your only hope of righteousness and salvation. . .
In Christ Alone,
Josue Hernandez
