1 Chronicles 4 – Don’t Be Afraid to Ask

Now Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep me from harm that it may not pain me!” And God granted him what he requested. (1 Chronicles 4:10 NASB)

Jabez was the most brilliant out of his brothers–the one that sticks out in this chapter out of all the names listed. Jabez  was a special man, even though his name means pain and suffering. In Jabez’s prayer, he brings his necessity to God, and all of that with no selfish wants. “Oh Lord if you bless me!” What Jabez wanted more was the blessing of God. “If you would increase my land!” He wanted more land and more territory because he wanted to reach his dreams and go beyond his limits. “If your hand would be with me!” Jabez knew that all he wanted he would only reach with God, if God was on his side. “And if you would save me from any harm!” He even knew that bad things would would try to harm him if God was not with him.

1 Chronicles 4The other good thing about this chapter is that God gave Jabez what he asked for. You too, my friend, can pray to God just like Jabez and ask for what you need without selfishness–just be humble. Ask God to do His will in your life. You have to know that only God can help you and give you happiness. Our Lord Almighty can give you what you are looking for if you look for Him with humbleness and Faith.
