1 Chronicles 21 – On Our Side

1 Chronicles 21The devil tempts people, but what I find funny (well interesting) is that he often doesn’t tempt you when you are in your highest moments, but in your lowest moments. He makes you doubt and question if you are worthy or even if you are going to be able to pass through the temptations. He makes you want to count the people and the times you have failed God. Let’s read to see what the devil and God have to with David..

Satan rose up against Israel and caused David to take a census of the people of Israel. So David said to Joab and the commanders of the army, “Take a census of all the people of Israel—from Beersheba in the south to Dan in the north—and bring me a report so I may know how many there are.” 1 Chronicles 21:1,2

So David was tempted by the devil to take a census of all the men who were able to fight. What is so wrong or bad about that? The government takes a census of us every ten years. Well the problem here is that David did not trust God enough to think that there were enough men to win another war. So this is actually good news for us. It does not matter how many people are on our side–how many weak or strong people we have. All that matters is that we have God on our side; and then everything will go well. Do not let the devil get the best of you; trust in the Lord always, no matter if you have failed Him.

God bless
