Whenever we move into a house or someone gets a car, my dad always dedicates it. I never quite understood what the point was of doing it but as I was reading this chapter I understood perfectly. . . . Let’s read.
“O my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive to all the prayers made to you in this place. And now arise, O Lord God, and enter your resting place, along with the Ark, the symbol of your power. May your priests, O Lord God, be clothed with salvation; may your loyal servants rejoice in your goodness. O Lord God, do not reject the king you have anointed. Remember your unfailing love for your servant David.” (2 Chronicles 6:40-42)
Dedicating something to God is a symbol of welcoming God into your home or business or car. It is a way of giving everything to God and letting Him manage it. This prayer is that God may bless everyone who comes into it, that what we have will be put into His service and that He may hear our prayers and lead us wherever we go. It is good that we dedicate what we have to the Lord because it will certainly be a blessing, not only for you but for everyone around you. We should dedicate not only our material things but also our lives to Him so that He may direct them, and we may live in peace.
