Based on Philippians 2:1-11
“If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.” Philippians 2:1, 2 (KJV) Read the rest here
When I was reading this passage one part stood out to me. It said “if any bowels and mercies.” What could this mean? Have you ever seen something so tragic that you had a “gut reaction” to it? I believe this is what Paul is referring to. If there is any comfort, love, fellowship, if there is any heart reaction to the tragedies of sin, if there is mercy to counteract its effects; fulfill my joy by having the same love, unity, and mind as Christ.
This world is full of sin and hate. This world is full of sadness and tragedy. This world needs Christ, and He wants your help. With all the bad things going on in the world, it can be very easy to grow cold to the needs around us. In this cold world we are called to be the warmth! If it is cold outside, a fire may not be able to heat up the whole property someone is on, but it is still enough to keep the people around it warm. We can’t be the sun, but we can still be fire in someone else’s life.
