Blameless in a Crooked Generation

Based on Philippians 2:12-18

Philippians 2.12-18Have the things you’ve seen going on around you lately made you realize that people are losing a sense of morality? Have you seen news stories of corruption? Or maybe you’ve been on Facebook and seen posts by friends who are upset because of what their girlfriend/boyfriend did or maybe because their teenager got drunk? Does it make you realize that we are living in a crooked generation? The question we need to ask ourselves is: “How should we live during such a time as this?”

“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

“Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me.” Philippians 2:12-18

We don’t want to live like those in the world around us. Thankfully God has made a way for us to live blameless lives in the midst of a generation that has abandoned His ideal. In spite of the fact that we live in this crooked generation, God is willing to do His work of restoration in us. He calls us to work without grumbling and disputes, to stay true to the Word of God and shine as lights for Him.

Our Heavenly Father loves us and He knows that His way will bring joy to us, even if it is accompanied by trials. Best of all, He makes it possible for us to live a pure life, by offering to work through us. Will you let Him do His work in you today?

Desiring to stay In Christ Alone,
